?Dr. Haijing Niu is hosting a three-day fNIRS training course on May 17-19, 2019, at Beijing Normal University,?Beijing, China. The intensive course, containing both lectures and hands-on practice sessions, will provide a great opportunity to students and researchers all over China to learn the technique in various aspects including principles, data acquisition, analysis methods and applications.

?

The first day of the course will begin with introductions of the basics of fNIRS principles and study design. Following the introduction lectures, invited speakers will discuss the current use and the potential of fNIRS across different areas in medical research. In the afternoon, the participants will get their hands on different models of fNIRS systems and perform data acquisitions through guided practice sessions.?

?

The second day of the course will be devoted to discussions on resting state fNIRS methodology and applications. Dr. Niu and her lab members will demonstrate FC-NIRS, a toolbox that is designed for fNIRS connectivity and network analysis. Using example data and data collected on the first day, the participants will have the opportunity to explore several features of FC-NIRS in guided practice sessions.

?

On the last day, the participants will be introduced to HomER2 and Atlasviewer, analysis packages for general fNIRS data processing and probe design. Dr. Meryem Yucel will lead the discussions on fNIRS data pre-processing, data modeling, motion artifact correction and physiological noise removal. Through a few examples, Dr. Ke Peng will then show how to use Atlasviewer to properly design fNIRS montages, and to validate the probe design with recorded optode coordinates. These lectures will be followed by guided practice session so that the participants may get hands-on experiences with the software packages.
